JUST TWO / Northern California photographer, Lincoln child Photographer

I had an Amazing workshop Last weekend by Sandy Puc, Tots 2 Teens. It was so worth my time! I met up with some other amazing photographers in my area and made some new friends... I learned so much, I had a few Lightbulb moments! I can not wait to start using them, especially with those hard little kids who hate to sit still.

I got a chance to use some of my new learned skills today with these two adorable little boys. They were so fun to work with. It was AMAZING weather. The light was perfect and so were our surroundings. I just LOVE what I do. When I came home and started to go through my images, I just got soooo excited! I am posting just these two for now... but more to come in the next few days! Promise.

My Darling Daughter

Oh my little girl is growing up... I want her to stay little forever, but at almost 9 years old next month she seems to be getting big so fast. She is so beautiful to me. I love her red hair and freckles. I often wonder how I got a daughter who looks the complete opposite of me. One time at church we sang together, and I can not even tell you how many people came up to me and said " I did not even know Halli was yours!" LOL! Well my little Halli bug and I found this beautiful spot with a TON of AMAZING flowering pear trees and had a mini photoshoot.
It was pretty hillariouse with my one year old jumping on top of me the whole time! Also I have some pretty funny out-takes of her! She was totally sick of me taking pics... I will post some of those next.

oh she just takes my breath away, she is so beautiful!

What is Little Kiwis?

I thought I would just give everyone an insight into the name of my photography business. Some might wonder why it is not Keri Dalebout photography, or something simpler. I get a lot of questions like...are you from New Zealand. (KIWI)

Photography should be about {ME} right. It should speak who I am. What I do. My name should embrace me. Well Kiwi is my nickname. My cousin started to call me Kiwi about 15 years ago when he could not say Keri, And I just think it is so cute.
I always thought I would use it in a business name someday. Since I have primarily done child photography I thought it fit perfectly, but not sure it fits so well into the wedding world? So I am still thinking and rethinking my name and the way I want to take my branding.

So tell me honestly all you regulars and you visitors (I know your out there) what is your impression of Little Kiwis Photography. Does it sound professional? Do you like it? Do you think it fits the style and is my branding (website) a reflection of my style? And better yet what do you perceive my style as? Still trying to pin this down myself so I would LOVE to hear what others have to say!!!

BTW... I have Sooo appreciated all the comments and the visits to my site and blog.
In one month since I launched I have almost reached 1000! I know some get that in like a week, or even a day! but I will take it in a month :)

Thanks for visiting...

Free texture!!!!!!

Hi everyone! So I just wanted to give a little something back. I can not even begin to tell you how I have been inspired by other photographers and also been the recipiant of so much generosity. Especially with photoshop and cute and creative freebies from all the great forums I am a part of. I LOVE the photography community. Even if you are not a photographer and you have photoshop or another program you can still use this too! here are my before and afters using the texture I created:

The texture is basically a picture I took of some rusty metal and then I layered and brushed until I got this final result!

So how do you get these kind of results from a jpeg texture? if you do not know, this is what I did... first you do ALL the adjustments you want done to the picture. Then just drag the texture onto the picture to make a new layer. It will completely cover up the picture. Select that layer and choose OVERLAY. it will most likely make your people look crazy if you are using it on a portrait. So do a duplicate layer of the origional portrait and drag it above the texture so the texture is sandwiched. Then you can erase the parts of the top layer so the texture shows through in the places you want. Layers can not be done wrong. You can get all sorts of different looks by choosing soft light, hard light, or adjusting the opacity etc. So just play around and have fun. If you do use this it would be fun to see the pictures you use it on so leave me a comment and a link to see your creation! :)

here is what it looks like: there is a link at the bottom to copy full resolution.
